These set-up instructions are for Shopify Merchants who have installed the TryNow: Try Before You Buy application and are ready to offer shoppers trials on one or more products.
Step 1 - Navigate to the “Settings” tab of TryNow’s Merchant Portal and select your timezone, input your returns URL, and grant access to users in your organization to complete TryNow’s Merchant Portal set-up. These fields are editable and can be changed later.
Step 2 - To define the terms of your purchase option you need to indicate the count of days you’d like a shopper to have your product (denoted by “trial length”) and the count of days you’d like to give the shopper, reverse logistics carrier, and your fulfillment center to return the item and process the return (denoted as the “return flow”) before charging the shopper for kept items. You can do this by going to the Purchase Options section and clicking on “manage.” These fields are editable and can be changed later.
Step 3 - Once you’ve indicated the terms of the Purchase Options you can add products and their variants from your catalog to the Purchase Option. To do this you will navigate to “products” and click on the product you would like extend shoppers the ability to Try Before You Buy - you will then be routed to product settings/details and you will scroll down until you arrive at “Purchase Options” you will click the carrot and select “Select existing option” and you will select all applicable variants and add to plan. You will repeat this step for all subsequent products (and their variants) you’d like to configure with Try Before You Buy.
Step 4 - Install the TryNow: Try Before You Buy onto your theme by navigating to the Settings tab of TryNow’s Merchant Portal, then selecting the Installation tab. TryNow can’t be installed onto your published theme. Installing will add TryNow snippets to your theme code, allowing the TryNow purchase option to be electable on the product detail page.
Step 5 - Once Step 4 is completed shoppers will see additional Purchase Options on your product detail page e.g. Try Before You Buy (try for X days). As trial orders are received you can view them in Shopify’s order console as well as in TryNow Merchant Portal’s Orders Page (UI and downloadable report).
Step 6 - Create and/or validate the new Customer Update Payment Method email template in Shopify for TryNow: Try Before You Buy orders that are not successfully authorized and thus not created. This email specifies that the shopper needs to retry the order with a new credit card within 48 hours to complete the order creation process. A hyperlink to the Shopify payments portal is provided within the email template.
